About Senator Appel

Staci Appel was elected to the Iowa Senate in 2006.  She represents district 37, which includes Warren and Madison counties and southwest Dallas County.

Senator Appel is an Assistant Majority Leader and chair of the State Government Committee.  She also serves on the Agriculture, Appropriations, Education, and Rebuild Iowa committees.

Staci is a native Iowan, who is active in a variety of school, church and community activities.  She has served as president of the Irving Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization in Indianola, a member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Connection, a member of the Warren County Child Abuse Prevention Council Advisory Board, and a Sunday School teacher at First United Methodist Church in Indianola.

Staci lives in rural Ackworth with her husband, Brent Appel, and their six children: Theodore, Jacob, Isaac, Olivia, Michael and Samuel.

Staci was a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch and USB Paine Webber prior to taking time off to raise her children and to volunteer with community and charitable organizations.
