Senator Gene
Fraise is serving his sixth term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate
District 46, which includes Henry and Lee counties.
Senator Fraise
is chair of the Agriculture Committee and vice-chair of the Justice Systems
Budget Subcommittee. He also serves on the Appropriations and Judiciary
committees.
In addition to
his committee work, Senator Fraise serves on the Indigent Defense Advisory
Commission and the Interstate Cooperation Commission.
Fraise, a farmer, is a member of the Lee County Pork Producers, the Farm
Bureau, and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. He spent seven years on the
Lee County Board of Supervisors and served as its chairman in 1985.
Senator Fraise
has received numerous awards and recognitions from law
enforcement, corrections and other service organizations for his efforts to
make Iowa a better, safer place to live, work and raise a family.
Senator Fraise and his wife, Faye, recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he and his wife attend St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa.
They have three sons and 14 grandchildren;
their one daughter passed away in 2006.
