The
Iowa Choice Advisory Council is in charge of finding health care
options for 19,000 Iowa kids who would otherwise slip through the cracks
because their families earn too much to qualify for Medicaid or Hawk-I,
but not enough to purchase their own insurance.
In 2005 the Legislature
adopted
House File 825, establishing a health safety network of
primary care providers -- including community health centers, free
clinics and rural health clinics -- for Iowans who don't have access
to quality, affordable medical treatments.
