State Senator John Kibbie (Jack) is President of the Iowa Senate. He is currently serving his
sixth term in the Legislature. He represents Senate District 4, which
includes
six counties: Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Humboldt, and the
townships of Jackson, Deer Creek, and Johnson in Webster County.
Senator Kibbie is vice-chair of the Rules & Administration Committee and co-chair of the
Ethics Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture, State Government,
Administrative Rules, and Veterans Affairs committees.
In addition to his legislative work, Senator Kibbie
serves on the Interstate Cooperation Commission and is co-chair of the
Midwest Council of State Government Agriculture Committee.
Kibbie served in the Iowa House from
1961-1964 and the Senate from 1964 – 1968. He was re-elected in 1988 to the
Senate. He served on the Iowa Lakes Community College Board for 17 years,
serving as president for 10 of those years.
Jack and wife, Kay, operate a family livestock and
grain farm with his two sons. Jack served in Korea
as a tank commander during Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star.
