About Senator Kibbie
State Senator John Kibbie (Jack) is President of the Iowa
Senate and is currently serving his seventh term. He represents Senate
District 4, which includes six counties: Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto,
Pocahontas, Humboldt, and the townships of Jackson, Deer Creek, and Johnson
in Webster County.
Senator Kibbie is vice-chair of the State Government and Rules &
Administration committees and co-chair of the Ethics Committee. He also
serves on the Agriculture, Administrative Rules Review, and Veterans Affairs
committees.
Kibbie served in the Iowa House from 1961-1964 and the Senate from 1964 –
1968. He was re-elected in 1988 to the Senate. He served on the Iowa Lakes
Community College Board for 17 years, serving as president for 10 of those
years.
Jack and wife, Kay, operate a family livestock and grain farm with his two
sons. Jack served in Korea as a tank commander during Korean War and was
awarded the Bronze Star. |
