Congratulations to Jim Keho of Allerton. He was
awarded a 2009 Governor's Lifesaving Award at the Iowa State
Fair for helping to rescue a neighbor after a bad car accident.
The Governor's Lifesaving Award recognize Iowans
who have performed a courageous act in an attempt to save
someone's life or who have unselfishly assisted in an emergency
situation. For medical reasons, Mr. Keho was unable to attend.
His sister Sharon Ripperger accepted the award on his behalf. |

On May 26, Senator Keith Kreiman
was at the Statehouse when Governor Chet Culver signed the final
bills of the 2009 legislative session. Among the items signed
into law was House File 712, which gives Iowans the right
to individually sue those who defraud them in certain cases. The
bill had strong support from the AARP and the Iowa Attorney
General's office. |

Senator Keith Kreiman was on
hand May 21 when Governor Chet Culver signed one of the most
important pieces of legislation that we passed this year. Senate
File 340, the "Adam Walsh Act," strengthens Iowa's laws to keep
dangerous sex offenders off our streets and away from our

mortgage reforms that give homeowners a better chance of
avoiding foreclosure. |

On Tuesday, March 24, Timothy Orr was unanimously confirmed by
the Iowa Senate as the new Adjutant General of the State of
Iowa. |
