Hogg points state senate towards energy efficiency on 40th birthday State Senator Rob Hogg of Cedar Rapids celebrated his 40th birthday today in the Iowa Senate in an unusual way. Rather than bringing the traditional treats of doughnuts or cake, Hogg presented each of his Senate colleagues with an energy efficient light bulb. “Conserving energy, and using energy efficiently, is important to reduce our state’s energy bill – now almost $11 billion – and to meet our obligations for the environment and future generations,” Hogg said. “If all of us use these bulbs in place of inefficient ones, we can save more than $450 and avoid more than five tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.” From left to right, Senator Hogg and Senator Tom Courtney of Burlington. |
