State Senator Tom Rielly is currently serving his first term in the
Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 38, which includes Iowa,
Poweshiek, and Keokuk counties, as well as the eastern half of
Mahaska County and a southern portion of Tama County.
Senator Rielly is chair of the Transportation Committee and
vice-chair of the Agriculture Committee. He also serves on the
Commerce, Economic Growth, and Local Government committees.
In addition to his work in the Legislature, Senator Rielly serves on
the Renewable Fuels & Co-products Advisory Committee.
Rielly was born and raised in Oskaloosa and chose to return
there with his wife after college to start a family. He is the
former mayor of Oskaloosa and is active in the community, with
membership in the Eagles, Knights of Columbus, Elks and Chamber of
Commerce. He has also served as president of the Jaycees and
as a YMCA board member.
Rielly is a graduate of Loras College in Dubuque. He owns
and operates Rielly Insurance in Oskaloosa, where he works as a
financial advisor and insurance agent.
Senator Rielly and his wife, Mary, have two daughters, Katie and
Shawn.
