Senator
Roger Stewart is currently serving his second term in the Iowa Senate. He
represents District 13, which includes Clinton, Maquoketa,
Bellevue and
Preston.
Senator Stewart is chair of the Economic Growth
Committee and serves on the Commerce, Ways & Means, and Local Government
committees. He is a member of the Administration & Regulation Budget
Subcommittee.
In addition to his
legislative work, Senator Stewart serves in the Iowa Capital Investment
Board. His civic involvement includes the Regional Workforce Investment Board, the East-Central Iowa
Inter-governmental Association, and the Jackson County Revolving Loan Fund.
Senator Stewart has received several awards and
recognitions in agriculture, including the Chamber Friends of
Agriculture Award and the National Banking Award for work during the 1980’s
Farm Crisis.
Senator Stewart graduated from Maquoketa High School
and attended Cornell College for two years. Stewart is a graduate of the
Wisconsin School of Banking. He works as a farmer and as a banker.
Senator Stewart and his wife, Jennie, a retired
newspaper and features editor, have three children and seven
grandchildren.
