State Senator Steve
Warnstadt is currently serving his second term in the Iowa Senate. He
represents Senate District 1 in Sioux City. Before being elected to the Senate,
Senator Warnstadt was a four-term Iowa State Representative.

Senator Warnstadt’s
main goals are growing Iowa’s economy, strengthening Iowa’s families, and
improving Iowa’s infrastructure. Senator Warnstadt is chair of the
Commerce Committee and vice-chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee and
Transportation Budget Subcommittee. He also serves on the Appropriations,
Judiciary, and Transportation committees.
Senator Warnstadt’s civic involvement includes
service on the Sioux Trails Girl Scout Board of Directors, American Legion,
and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Senator Warnstadt has also received numerous awards
and recognitions. Some of these honors include the 2007 "Friend of Housing"
award from the Iowa Finance Authority for his efforts to make home ownership
more affordable for veterans and military service members, the Sioux City NAACP Award, Five
Army Commendation Awards, Valorous Unit Award, Military Intelligence Corps
Association Knowlton Award, and Sioux City Journal 40 under 40.
Senator Warnstadt received a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Drake University as well as a Master of Arts degree from Temple
University. He is currently an adjunct instructor at Western Iowa Technical
Community College in Sioux City and is an intelligence officer with the Iowa
Army National Guard.

Warnstadt and his wife, Mary, have a daughter and son.
